Clarity Before Creativity
Before colours, logos, or anything visual - there needs to be clarity.
It’s tempting to dive straight into the fun, creative part of branding. But when creativity comes first, brands often end up feeling disconnected, inconsistent, or just a little “off” - even when the business itself is strong.
If you’ve ever felt stuck or unsure about your brand, it’s rarely a lack of creativity. More often, it’s a lack of direction. Clarity gives creativity purpose. It answers the quieter, but more important questions first:
Why does this business exist?
Who is it really for?
What should it feel like to engage with it?
When those foundations are in place, design decisions stop being guesswork. Colours, typography, and visuals start to make sense. The brand feels grounded, considered, and intentional.
At Fossick, I believe the strongest brands come from digging beneath the surface - not decorating what’s already there. Creativity still plays a vital role, but it works best when guided by understanding and purpose.
Start with clarity. Ask better questions. Slow the process down. The creativity will come - and when it does, it will be doing the right work.
