LAND. COLOUR STORY.
There’s something about walking the same tracks over and over, how familiar places still manage to surprise you. The changing colours of the crops depending on the light, the shifts within the seasons, and textures that reveal themselves only when you slow down enough to really take them in.
I’ve always been someone who notices things. The quiet details. The shapes nature makes without trying. The tones you only get from sun, soil, and time. The way a shadow falls across a paddock, the subtle shift from green to gold as the seasons turn, the way light changes the mood of the landscape in an instant. These are the things that catch my eye and make me pause.
Observing and Collecting Inspiration
Being out in the world, noticing the small details, and really paying attention is central to the way I work as a designer. I collect what I see, experience, and feel. Textures, colours, patterns, forms all inform my creative process. It is not about forcing ideas or hunting for inspiration. It is about slowing down, noticing, and gathering the elements that resonate naturally.
This is how my work connects to the landscapes around me. Each project starts with observation, with curiosity, and with an openness to what already exists. Whether it is the ochre tones of the outback, the subtle greens of a vineyard, or the deep shadows of a forest, these impressions form the foundation for colour palettes, textures, and visual stories that I bring into my design work.
Translating Place into Design
This colour story comes from one of the places I walk often. The tones and textures of the landscape, the way light catches the edges of crops, the quiet rhythm of the paddocks, all feed into the way I think about design. It is about collecting meaning from the everyday and translating it into visual language.
For me, creativity does not always come from far-off places. Sometimes it starts right under our feet, in the familiar tracks, fields, and landscapes that surround us. The patterns we walk over every day can inspire palettes, shapes, and designs that are both grounded and meaningful.
An Invitation
If you are exploring ideas too, I would love to walk with you through them. Whether you have a quiet concept forming, a brand you are looking to bring to life, or just want to explore the possibilities, I enjoy helping ideas take shape and uncovering the visual story behind them.
